ProblemWhen a user starts Music Factory on a Windows2000/XP machine, the error message, “failed to get registry data” is received. SolutionThe problem is caused by the user NOT having WRITE permissions to the Music Factory registry key. It is essential that users of the application have full permissions. If they do not the program will be rendered unusable. The one set as the default will still be loaded when you open a new document. To correctly set program access: Go to start, run and type in regedt32.
Double click on the software entry to expand it. Scroll down, and double click on the Widgit entry to expand it’s contents. Single click on the Music Factory entry. Click on the security tab, and click on permissions. For Windows XP users right click on the Music Factory key and select permissions. You will then be presented with the access control list to the Music Factory program. If the “everyone” group is not listed, click on add. Click on the everyone group and click add so that the group appears in the bottom pane, and click OK. Once OK has been clicked, the access control list will reappear. With the everyone group highlighted, click in the Full Control
tick box to assign full control to the group.
