This introductory level workshop is designed to provide practical strategies for supporting your students with special learning needs using symbol-based materials.  We will review both print and interactive activities to address language and academic goals and objectives, and discuss ways to implement these activities in individual, small group, and classroom lessons throughout the school day.

Learning Objectives:  Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Identify 3 symbol-based materials to support learning.

  • Discuss the benefits of using symbol-based materials for students with special learning needs.

  • List 4 Boardmaker Online templates that can support classroom instruction.

Presenter’s Bio:  Sandy Klindworth is a speech language pathologist with over 30 years of experience working with individuals with complex communication needs.  Prior to coming to DynaVox Mayer-Johnson in 2007, she had a long career as a school based SLP and then worked in her own, AAC-focused private practice. She has been a member of the Boardmaker Implementation Team at Tobii Dynavox for 3 years.
