The teach2play™ series is designed to help teach play skills to students with Autism and other developmental disorders. It encourages speech and language development through video modeling, so students can see the appropriate way to play – and learn.

How does it work?
The “play ladder” teaches play skills and each successive “step” in the play ladder represents a new, more advanced level of play skills. For example, a student might start from the lowest step, like putting toys together, and progress systematically through the highest step, like playing dress up.

Teach2play Volume 4 - Advanced Play introduces the child to making the conceptual leap to pretending that the toy, rather than the child, is taking actions as the causal agent and speaking, which leads to sociodramatic play. Building on all the skills learned in prior steps, children's play becomes increasingly sophisticated and creative, and they acquire the skills needed to transition successfully to playing with their peers – joining in on the play of others while also contributing their own novel ideas.

The Volume 4 - Advanced Play teach2play™ play ladder covers:

• Step 11: DINOSAUR IS TALKING: At this level of play, students move the figure or doll as if it were capable of taking actions on its own or speaking, like two dinosaurs giving each other “high fives”, a dinosaur talking or a fireman driving a fire truck.
• Step 12: DINOSAUR HAS AN ADVENTURE: At this level of play, students make the figure or doll engage in three or more different actions in a row. Students can also set up a theme and have their toy go on an adventure, like the zoo, then playing at the park, and then coming home to bed. Students can give names to the toys at this level.
• Step 13: LET'S PLAY HOUSE!: At this level of play, students take on roles, pretending to be a pirate, clown or superhero.
