The teach2play™ series is designed to help teach play skills to students with Autism and other developmental disorders. It encourages speech and language development through video modeling, so students can see the appropriate way to play – and learn.

How does it work?
The “play ladder” teaches play skills and each successive “step” in the play ladder represents a new, more advanced level of play skills. For example, a student might start from the lowest step, like putting toys together, and progress systematically through the highest step, like playing dress up.

Teach2play Volume 3-Intermediate Play features an increased level of abstraction, including symbolic play for the first time, and giving the child the ability to substitute one object for another and pretend an objection is there when it is not. These “substitution” steps give children the skills to greatly increase the flexibility and creativity of their play.

The Volume 3 – Intermediate Play teach2play™ play ladder covers:

• Step 8: FRENCH FRY IS AN AIRPLANE: At this level of play, students use one object as a substitute for another when playing, like substituting a stick for a thermometer.
• Step 9: INVISIBLE FRENCH FRY: At this level of play, students pretend to use an item which is not actually present, like shooting a pretend basket or playing air guitar.
• Step 10: HOW TO BRUSH MY DINOSAUR'S TEETH: At this level of play, students cause three or more different actions in a row to happen to the same figure or doll, like getting toothpaste, putting toothpaste on a toothbrush, and brushing the dinosaur's teeth.
