The teach2play™ series is designed to help teach play skills to students with Autism and other developmental disorders. It encourages speech and language development through video modeling so students can see the appropriate way to play – and learn.

How does it work?
The “play ladder” teaches play skills, and each successive “step” in the play ladder represents a new, more advanced level of play skills. For example, a student might start from the lowest step, like putting toys together, and progress systematically through the highest step, like playing dress up.

Teach2play Volume 1-Basic Play covers the following steps in the teach2play™ play ladder:

• Step 1: TAKE APART/PUT TOGETHER: At this play step, students both separate items fixed in an arrangement, like taking a piece out of a puzzle, and recreates combined arrangements of items from their individual part, like putting puzzle pieces into the puzzle.
• Step 2: PUT IN / PUT ON: At this play step, students put two different items together in a simple combination, like placing one item into a different item or putting one item on top of another item.
• Step 3: PRETEND TO EAT: At this play step, students can use an external object to take an action which is directed at him or her, like putting on a hat, combing hair, or eating play food.
• Step 4: BUILD A TOWER: At this play step, students combine items which are intended to go together in an appropriate manner based on their nature, like stacking nesting cups, stringing beads together or connecting segments of a train track.
